At the age of 8 years old, our daughter required multiple surgeries to correct her kidney and urinary tract function.
During her stay at the hospital, she became extremely fearful of having her IV catheter dislodged by being stepped on or caught on something. The 78-inch length of IV tubing was in a constant state of entanglement and created a great deal of unnecessary stress for us all.
Conversations with the medical staff revealed they didn’t have anything to help assist us with the excess line and that holding it by hand or simply letting it drag along was our only real option.
Several months later, our daughter contracted a Staph infection from a small scratch she received while playing at school. She was immediately hospitalized; Antibiotic IV therapy was initiated and again we encountered the same medical line problems. Her IV line was in a constant state of entanglement and at risk of being dislodged or contaminated from contact with the floor.
Containment, management and organization of medical lines are a major component of “Patient Safety”.
As a result of our experiences, CLAMPTIE™ was developed to specifically address the problem of medical line management and very quickly & efficiently addresses this need.
